Krista Feld got her G.E. certification of Fine/Studio Arts at Cuesta College. Feld then later got her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Cal State Long Becah. Her activities and societies she was involved in at Long Beach were the Fine Arts Roundtable, GLAMFA, Birdie Shank Sisterhood, Fiber Club, and Holiday Sale. Their interest in art is more focused on the material. The ideas their artwork explores is the material and uses of different objects.

Heather Anacker and Krista Feld art gallery consist of mostly installation pieces. Each piece of artwork utilized many different size objects. Overall the color palette of this gallery was very neutral tones and earthy colors. The many different objects also have different textures as well from shiny to rough etc. Also, some of the installation pieces add a pop of vibrant color to create contrast as opposed to the rest of the most neutral-toned installation pieces.

Heather Anacker and Krista Feld art gallery focus heavily on the material of the objects, their uses, and purposes. For example in one of the installation pieces by Krista Feld, she uses different sawdust from different woods to show their vibrant colors. She shows us the potential in scraps that no one cares about such as sawdust. Another example would be from Heather Anacker’s chair installation. She created this fabric sewn hanging chair with a different texture fabric. She uses this pieces to emphasize not only the unconventional material you would probably never think of used in a chair as well as the uses of it which essentially is a chair, something we always take for granted. This whole gallery basically emphasizes the importance of embracing the material and appreciating what objects come from said materials.

I can really resonate with Heather Anacker and Krista Feld’s art gallery and what it stands for. Growing up I was always taught to use the most of what I had and never let anything go to waste as well as if I didn’t have what I needed I had to find a way to make something out of nothing work. This idea that I had grown up with really reflected in the pieces of the art gallery which I appreciate. The way they embraced the materials and used it to create a piece of art is really inspiring. At first, I was not that captivated because all I thought was that it was just random objects scattered everywhere but once they started to explain their reasoning and the meaning behind the pieces of the art gallery it opened my mind to a whole different aspect of art I have never thought before.
