At the beginning of the semester, I believed that art was the expression of creativity through human skills. Now my idea of art has not changed at all but I have been exposed and open to many different ideas of what art can be but I still stand by what I believe in. What I think of art now is that it can come in many different forms and many people have their own versions of what art is and can be. I am a psychology major which has literally nothing to do with art but there are some ways art can be useful in my major. While studying psychology I could use my art skills to sketch out pieces of the brain so I can remember them clearly when I study or I could draw out different behaviors and expressions of people which can also help me study and identify things in the future. My career goals are to work within the developmental psychology spectrum such as social workers or counselors. I can use my art skills to design an environment that would help ease patients or clients so that they would feel comfortable and relaxed. Art definitely does enrich my life. Art has always been one of my hobbies ever since I was little and it’s a talent and skill I possess. I don’t intend to pursue it though but it is fun and relaxing for me to practice it. Art has always been apart of my life and I couldn’t imagine a world without it. I believe that art truly matters. Art inspires us to do things we sometimes never thought to do in the first place. Art is what progresses society and life as we know it and all the creative people in this world are responsible for that. If art and any creative impulse just vanished we would be nothing. Art takes creativity and without creativity, we would be left with nothing to grow from, nothing to be inspired from, nothing to evolve from. The slogan “a great nation deserves great art” is a slogan I strongly believe in because it’s true, if a nation is so great or it’s claimed to be then the art of that nation needs to be great as well. Overall this entire semester has been a roller coaster of different activities and learning experiences. Even though everything was online I still enjoyed myself with the creative art activities which pushed me to keep practicing my craft. I learned more and beyond what I thought art was and have opened my mind to endless possibilities of what art is and can be. Going forward in my life I will keep my mind open to new ideas of what art is and so forth.
